Meet the Founder

Candace (pronounced “can-dACE”) Marshall is a Professional Organizer, Certified Birth Doula and Maternal and Child Health professional. She has a vast experience in the maternal and child health field working across major metropolitan cities including Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia. Her work has ranged from providing WIC benefits and perinatal nutrition education to birthing people and their little ones up to the age of five; home visiting to provide safe-sleep education to parents; working with school-age children in community centers and schools; as well as collaborating with distinguished women’s health and pediatric clinicians to implement and evaluate health programs.

She was called to birth work as a result of the rising Black maternal mortality crisis in the nation and aid birthing women of color to feel empowered and safe when they create and give birth to life. She wants to support women of color during their birth process and aid them with having an optimal birth experience. She wants to equip moms and their partners to have a voice during their labor and childbirth, in any setting. She wants to create an environment where they are seen, heard, and listened to ensure that they feel safe about their well-being and the delivery of their little one earthside. When she was younger, she was often drawn to pregnant women at her church and would engage them about what the gender was, if that was the gender they were hoping for; when they were due; and at the right time, when the baby had gotten a little bigger, ask if she could hold the baby. Becoming a doula has come full-circle with her childhood perinatal interest and her current work supporting pregnant women as they prepare for birth.

She has also always had a knack for tidying up and rearranging items in an orderly manner whether it be in her own home, loved ones, office spaces, or while volunteering in the community. Marketing her skillset for organizing only became inevitable over time to help others who find the task loathsome where as she finds excitement.

She was born and raised in Silver Spring, Maryland and is first-generation Ghanaian. She is a Montgomery County native, and she holds a Master of Public Health in Maternal and Child Health from The George Washington University, The Milken School of Public Health in Washington, DC. and holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. She is a Mama Glow trained and Certified Birth Doula and a trained organizer as well. She enjoys attending art and live jazz events, traveling, baking, volunteering and indulging in self-care activities in her free time when she is not frolicking the DMV.
